Jubilee Year of St. Francis of Assisi

To mark the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi (October 3, 1226), the Church has proclaimed a Special Year of Saint Francis from January 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027. This Jubilee Year continues the grace of the recently concluded Ordinary Jubilee and invites all the faithful to live as pilgrims of hope, inspired by the life of Saint Francis—his humility, poverty, mercy, and love for Christ and peace.

As a parish under the patronage of St. Francis of Assisi, let us receive this Jubilee with Joy, gratitude and hope. Let us remember that this Jubilee has a personal meaning for us here at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Community, because the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi is not just part of the history of the church – it is at the heart of our Parish life.

You are Invited

As we joyfully celebrate the Jubilee Year of Saint Francis of Assisi, we warmly invite everyone to visit our parish and share in this special time of grace and renewal.

We extend a special invitation to neighboring parishes and church groups to join us—whether for a pilgrimage visit, a group gathering, or to celebrate Holy Mass in our parish facilities. This Jubilee year is a beautiful opportunity to come together in faith, fellowship, and the spirit of St. Francis.

If your parish or group is interested in scheduling a visit or celebrating Mass with us, please contact the parish office to arrange a date. We look forward to welcoming you and celebrating this blessed Jubilee year together.

Plenary Indulgence

During the Jubilee, the Apostolic Penitentiary, by the will of the Holy Father, grants a Plenary Indulgence under the usual conditions: sacramental confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father. Visiting a Franciscan church or any place connected to Saint Francis anywhere in the world, spending time in prayer or reflection, and praying for charity, harmony, and peace among peoples. This indulgence may also be offered for the souls in Purgatory.

The elderly, the sick, those confined to their homes, and caregivers may also receive the Plenary Indulgence by spiritually joining the Jubilee celebrations and offering their prayers and sufferings to God, intending to fulfill the usual conditions when possible.

Pope Leo’s Prayer to St. Francis of Assisi

Pope Leo offered us a prayer asking the intercession Saint Francis of Assisi so that his life and spirituality may continue to instill in all of us perfect joy and harmony.

Saint Francis, our brother, you who eight hundred years ago
went to meet Sister Death as a man at peace,
intercede for us before the Lord.

You recognized true peace in the Crucifix of San Damiano,
teach us to seek in Him the source of all reconciliation
that breaks down every wall.

You who, unarmed, crossed the lines of war
and misunderstanding,
give us the courage to build bridges
where the world raises up boundaries.

In this time afflicted by conflict and division,
intercede for us so that we may become peacemakers:
unarmed and disarming witnesses of the peace that comes from Christ.

Amen

This Jubilee of Saint Francis is a time of grace, calling all Christians to grow in holiness, mercy, and peace by following the Gospel way lived by St. Francis of Assisi.
